How we came up with the design:
When we set out to make a Pride inspired pot we had three key things in mind.
- Must be recognisable for Pride
- Must reflect the progressive design PRIDE flag 🏳️🌈
- Must be easy to replicate and achievable in 90 mins.

The Progressive Pride Flag
Below is the 2018 Pride Flag design created by Oregon based artist Daniel Quasar. Black and brown stripes were added to the icon rainbow flag represent and celebrate people of colour, as well as pink, white and blue stripes in a nod to the Trans Pride banner.
We used Quasar's addition to the progressive Pride Flag as the mountains in our Paint n' Pot design. For us, this symbolises growth, resiliency and the journey of self acceptance.
"What are you? To Define is to Limit" Quote by Oscar Wilde
We LOVE when we see people drawing on their planters with our Crockd Paint Pens - there's just something about plants with affirmations that makes the soul sing!
It was important for us to choose a quote from someone who represented the LGBTQI+ community.
Oscar Wilde (1854-1900) a famous writer and poet hid his sexuality for many years, and in the end historians mark his homosexuality as his 'downfall', when his love affair with a prominent Aristocrat resulted in his imprisonment and expulsion from British social circles.
We loved this Wilde quote as it encompasses the identity challenge in all of us. While society has come a long way since Wilde's Victorian era there are still many people hiding in the shadows. This quote reminds us that the sooner we let go of labels of ourselves and others, the sooner we will be able to live boundless lives.
